• Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times
• Have a good time!
Summer swim is fast and furious with only 10 weeks to swim! Regular Season Practice begins in mid- April and the meet season runs from May through June and consists of:
• One time trials meet taking place at our home pool
• Five dual meets vs other swim teams (Home and Away)
• One divisional meet consisting of all 6 teams in our division at an away location.
Time Trials is a compulsory meet for all swimmers. Under NWAL rules, no swimmer may enter a regular dual meet event without an official fastest time recorded at a sanctioned meet or time trial. Time trials only involves the Dolphins team, but it is run like an official meet to give new swimmers an opportunity to gain experience and get their seed time before the first dual meet.
Dual Meets are the core of the season. There are five competitive meets against other NWAL swim teams. All dual meets are held on Saturday mornings. Check-in is normally at 6:45 AM/7:00 am - don't be late! Meets officially start at 8:30 AM and usually end at about 2:00 PM. Teams take part in 80 events (see Order of Events) with points awarded for the 6 fastest swimmers in each event:
• Freestyle all ages
• Backstroke all ages
• Breaststroke all ages
• Butterfly all ages
• Individual Medley 8 and up
• Free Relay all ages
• Medley Relay 8 and up
Divisionals is the most important meet of the season! Official NWAL team places are decided at Divisionals. All NWAL teams compete and the team that collects the most points at the meet are crowned champions for the season. Swimmers must have attended a minimum of 2 regular dual meets in order to attend Divisionals.
Invitationals are optional meets, that swimmers must have a qualifying time in order to attend. There are mid-season invitationals, and end of season invitationals.
