Volunteer Policy

We look forward to a FAST, FUN swim season for our Copperfield kids. And we can’t do it without you our AMAZING VOLUNTEERS! We are a family/parent based volunteer organization, from Time Trials through Divisionals it will take a total of 2,260+ volunteer hours to run meets for our kids. This means we need EVERY family to fulfill their required volunteer hours and even need some Volunteers to go above and beyond.

In order to ensure we can have a smooth, safe season for our swimmers, please review and agree to our VOLUNTEER POLICY before you sign up- we appreciate you!

  • Each family must complete the minimum number of required volunteer hours. This minimum number will be based on the number of families registered for the season, which will be finalized when the majority of registrations, typically towards the end of March.
  • There are a variety of jobs to be filled for each meet. Home meets will have more jobs than away meets. It's vital every job is filled see Position Descriptions for some examples.
  • Volunteer sign-ups will be due by midnight each Thursday before a meet - and any slots not yet filled will be AUTO-ASSIGNED to families with the least amount of volunteer hours completed (whose children are registered to swim in the meet). These auto-assignments will be available to view on the meet page and confirmed in email each Friday before the meet. Families are expected to honor these assignments if their child intends to swim in the meet.
  • If only one parent is able to attend meets and they have young children, look for jobs that your children can accompany you to complete (examples bathrooms, tent parent, etc.) Any parent concerned about how to meet their hours please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator and we can help you make a plan.
  • We are not requiring any 2nd shift positions at this time. However, we reserve the right to adjust this requirement, if needed, as the season progresses.
  • Families who have an NWAL Certified Official will be exempt from the minimum volunteer hours requirement, contingent upon that Official working a minimum of 5 out of the 7 meets (this includes Time Trials and the Divisional meet).
  • Families with only a 15–18-year-old swimmer(s) will be required to serve a minimum of 6 hours.
  • We are looking for Volunteers for each meet who are willing to be on a list of pinch hitters should we need coverage of any open slots - send us an email if you are interested.
  • If you know high school students in organizations that require service hours (such as NHS, Student Council, honor societies, etc.) - please have them get in touch with us to express their interest.
  • We do not anticipate depositing any checks- you are agreeing to SERVE the HOURS in order for your child to swim in the meets…we need you!
  • Have fun!

Thank you from your Volunteer Coordinator.

Go Dolphins, Swim fast!

If you know you will be missing a meet or are worried about getting your hours done, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator- Jennifer Bettis at [email protected]. Put “volunteer hours” in the subject line and she can help you make a plan!

Teen Helpers

Teen Helpers assist the coaches with Group 1 practices, which are held immediately after Group 4 practices at Park Falls pool and last about 35 minutes. Teen Helpers earn .25 hours towards their family hours requirement for each Group 1 practice they help with. We also award full volunteer hours for any group they are in that requires community volunteer service (honor societies, Scouts, etc).

  • Helpers must be at least 13 years old and have 2 years of swim team experience.

A teen helper training with Coach Nicci and Coach Kate is required in order to participate as a helper. If you cannot make the scheduled training, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Jennifer Bettis, to make arrangements.
